Measurement of surgical motion with a marker free computer vision based system

چکیده
This paper presents a marker free computer vision based system for tracking the articulated movement of hands in order to measure surgical skill. Tracking is achieved with a fast level set evolution method for active contours based on edge information. The spatial positions of anatomical features like the middle of the arm and of the wrist are computed from stereo images. Our first measurements show that we can track the trajectory of the arm movement with this method.

3D Hand Motion Evaluation Using HMM
Gesture and motion recognition are needed for a variety of applications. The use of human hand motions as a natural interface tool has motivated researchers to conduct research in the modeling, analysis and recognition of various hand movements. In particular, human-computer intelligent interaction has been a focus of research in vision-based gesture recognition. In this work, we introduce a 3-...

A direct method called fixation is introduced for solving the general motion vision problem, arbitrary motion relative to an arbitrary environment. This method results in a linear constraint equation which explicitly expresses the rotational velocity in terms of the translational velocity. The combination of this constraint equation with the Brightness-Change Constraint Equation solves the gene...
متن کاملMonocular Vision-based Displacement Measurement System Robust to Angle and Distance Using Homography
Displacement of a civil structure contains important information about structural behavior that helps confirm safety and serviceability. Displacement measurement by conventional devices such as LVDT is still challenging due to issues in the cost-effectiveness and accessibility to measurement locations. This paper presents a monocular vision-based displacement measurement system (VDMS) that is c...
متن کاملMIMIC: Real-Time Marker-Free Motion Capture System to Create an Agent in the Virtual Space
We described a real-time 3D computer vision system called MIMIC(Motion Interface & Motion Information Capture system) that can capture and save motion of an actor. This system analyzes input images from vision sensors and searches feature information like a head, hands, and feet. Moreover, this estimates intermediated joints as an elbow and knee using feature information and makes 3D human mode...
متن کاملHuman Kinematics Measuring Using a High Speed Camera and Active Markers
This paper presents simple, inexpensive, and fast procedure for motion kinematics analysis and measurement [1,2]. Measurement system developed in our laboratory was based on the industrial high speed camera, an active LED markers and a PC for handling the camera and data analysis. Active markers used in this work are assembled using small and lightweight white LEDs that allow large density of m...
